Not the most inspired of photos I know, but here's a couple of examples taken today with both 8mp cameras. First of all, I took a snap with the phone and then tried to frame up the same photo with the Kodak (the P880 has a wider angle lens, so a hint of zoom was required and I still didn't quite get it right). Kodak first, then Samsung. 100% pixel crops. And a quick fix on Paint Shop Pro 9 of the cropped 2nd photo. Kodak. Samsung. There's not much in them, but I still prefer the (nearly 8 year old) camera to the phone as there are a few more controls to play with (but more to mess up). I'll try another time to get the photo's 100% exact and also try out the RAW and TIFF settings on the Kodak.

I'm going to have to disagree. The Samsung really held its ground. Actually, I'm more than a little impressed by its images. Not sure what else to say. I never would have thought a camera phone could stand up to a camera but the Samsung has proven me wrong. What is to come? I'd love to see what the new Nokia could do in your hands.

I know it's close, but a hint of zoom will make a difference. I've just put a new screen in my C875, so next time it will be a three-way test (and I'll have a bit more time to plan it, today was just a bit of time killing). If it's clearer tomorrow, I'll find something to aim at.

I agree with that... it is very close. But here's the thing - it shouldn't be close, should it? At times it seemed to me that the Kodak was shooting through a haze whereas the Samsung was rendering a clearer image. Granted, I wasn't there so I don't know what the conditions were like.

Hi Paul, that one of the tree the Samsung seems to have botched but the others stand up well. Auto Mode? and you did get a fairly close framing between cameras
