That's got to be close to twenty feet... and from a phone? Wow! And you know, it sort of appears as though it were a diffused light. I don't see any harsh shadows.

I don't see any harsh shadows. more like 30 feet... wow! this was shot well past the end of the work day.. there was only street lights behind me that barely lit the dark scene. and you made a very good observation that I had missed completely. no flash shadow.. none at all. I guess the flash being only 1/2 inch straight under the lens, there just won't be shadows, providing the phone is in portrait orientation. Doing portraits... using the big D300 with add on SB800 flash 6 inches to the side of the lens gives horrid shadows cast on walls behind my subjects.

It might make a good test... shooting an informal flash portrait with the Samsung to test out that theory.
