For the princely ransom of £15 delivered, I will soon have a working Kodak DX7590 plus dock in my possession. I can't believe how cheap these have become, I remember paying £45 for a 256mb SD card for my DX6490.

Paul if you were on this side of the pond I would have gladly given you my Kodak Z740. It no longer holds the date and the dock/printer bit the dust several years ago but the camera still works great. Been trying to give it to a good friend here but she has dawdled about stopping by.

I would dig it out and use it Sophie, sometimes it's good practice to go back to basics. The camera arrived today and to say I'm chuffed is an understatement. As far as I can tell, the camera had only taken 240 photos in it's previous ownership. As you can see, the lens is clear and there's only a few scuffs on the grip. And it's all working as it should. The following is a test shot taken at full zoom in typical UK lighting conditions, hence ISO400 had to be used. It came out quite good considering it was handheld at 1/250. I've just found a older memory card (they can't use the higher capacity versions), so I will take it out tomorrow and give it a workout.

A great buy Paul, I remember paying $911 or £540 for my first DX6490, I was thrilled because I got it cheap.

I've gone one better today.
A DX7440 with case, 512mb card, charger and leads for £6 plus £4 p&p.
Shame it's such bad weather outside (I got soaked riding down to pick it up), but if the wind and rain dies down this evening, a 45 second exposure will be on the cards.

I had to look this camera up on the archive at dpReview since I totally forgot about it. Had great specs. Should be interesting to see the results. How did you manage to acquire it? What sort of condition is it in? Any idea of the number of clicks already recorded?

It's another ebay find. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kodak-easyshare-camera-dx7440-/201000879513Condition wise, it's as good a new and had taken 1395 photos before it arrived. I used to have one of these a few years back, and gave it to my father as he was looking for a camera at the time (which he still has and still uses). The thing I like about them is the optical viewfinder for snaps (I'm not a fan of holding a camera at arms length), the wide (at the time) 33mm lens and the 45 second option for low light stuff. Edit: I've just spun the dial, it goes to 64 seconds.

I have a working Z740 as well. It's a little slow by today's standards but still takes great shots.
