I thought this would be a good idea to see what peoples weapon of choice in camera is these days.
My current list includes...
Sony A57 with kit 18-55mm lens + a Tamron 18-200mm and a Sony 50mm f1.8. A Kodak P880 (that's in a bag somewhere around here). Samsung Galaxy S3 mobile phone. Blackberry Playbook tablet.
And hopefully arriving in the next day or so, a Kodak DX7590.
At some point soon, I will be adding other sub £10 cameras for evaluation as I'm a sucker for using old tech.

10 or so years ago, I started out with a 3mp Kodak DX4330. Moved on to a Z740, and a P850. In 2006/2007, I bought a DSLR, an Olympus E500 because of the Kodak sensor it used. I loved that camera. After a LOT of use, I upgraded to the Olympus E30 this spring. Soon after, my beloved E500 was stolen. Only consolation in this is that it's only worth about $75-$50!

As I have stated elsewhere I have never had the desire for a DSLR and probably would not make proper use of one if I had it. These days I use two Canon's (S5IS and SX150) and a Nikon (L820). Because it is the smallest the SX150 resides in my purse for those spur of the moment on the road shots since I don't have a fancy phone. With the other two it is whichever is handy at the moment but I do admit I have a growing fondness for the Nikon.

My DH made the choice for the Kodak. I tried to like it, I really tried.

Currently using a Canon SX20is. I've had it for a couple of years and its been a love/hate relationship. I find the photo quality to be very hit and miss ... of course it could just be the photographer! I also have an old Nikon D40 which works great, but lenses are so expensive that it just sits in the bag until I can find something that I like and can afford.

My main camera is a Nikon D3100 (having sold my Sony RX100). I also have a Kodak DX7590 and am about to be gifted with a Nikon D90 from my step daughter-in-law. For someone who didn't want to go this route (dslr's and lenses) I appear to be a complete failure. Snappie continues to love her Sony RX100. I should have listened to her.

Pam, I had the same pfoblem with my 850. I bought a new battery for it & all my problems went away. I love my 850 as well but seems as though I' using my ZMAX 990 mostly now.

Butch...I'll have to try getting new batteries..these ones i have now don't want to hold a charge...I still would use my 850 here & there...I used to have a fun time getting POTDs with it...lol..amongst all the Canons & Nikons...etc.... I might have to buy a new charger too ...mine has fallen apart...

Still using old clunkers here including, Lumix FZ7, Fuji E550, Kodak Z710, 2x Kodak C875s, and a few more ancient Kodaks.
Over the past 7 years all my spare cash has been spent on my model railway hobby, I find building a layout is very similar to photoraphy as they both require artistic flair.

Pam - try www.KEH.com - Most everything is used, but in good shape. I've not looked for any Kodak stuff, but have found lots of stuff for the Olys at reasonable prices.
