This is not the sharpest photo, for some reason I battled with focus. However, during cropping etc it seemed to me that certain elements play a role in the overall feel of the photo. What editing and cropping would you suggest and why? (except the obvious sharpen. )

I experimented with cropping, I think it looks better with about half of tree on the left gone, and then crop off the bottom up to the tip of that first lane divider. I also tried it with taking off half of that first lane marker.
I think both of them improves the picture. As it is the broad expanse of road, distracts from the picture. I can't offer much on exposure and the likes, as my eyes aren't that good.

What I forgot to mention, we drive on the left hand side of the road, so those tyre marks are in the getting away direction as well.
