In October I went to a small town called Prince Albert. It was a 1 000 + km journey by car. Pleased that my mind can still handle it in one trip, but I realised my arthritis can't. Closeby is a small village called Leeu-Gamka - both words mean lion, Afrikaans and a San or Khoi language. I've taken these there, I'll post a couple more later on. I've taken a lot of pictures, I'll try not to post all of then here. The region is a semi-desert, with wide spaces and mountains on the horison. Full album link, even if you don't have Facebook: www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10201326291173286.1073741844.1053284978&type=1&l=4f39768875and a bit cropped Cycling past the graveyard

That first shot is reminiscent of an Ansel Adams shot (wonder what it would be like in black and white). Was it unbearably hot?

Hmm, I'll try a black and white conversion. Weather was quite bearable most of the time. I scheduled it to be after most of the winter cold and before the very hot summer days. Although some days and nights were still jolly cold!
I'm very flattered that a shot of mine is vaguely reminiscent of Ansel Adams!

This is the original with phone lines in. Anybody who would like to clone them out? I don't have PS

I very much like the original shot, wires and all. I would accommodate you with the cloning but I couldn't clone out these wires to save myself! BTW...here's the link to the Adams' shot below. Just something about the positioning of the building and the mountains in the background. www.hcc.commnet.edu/artmuseum/anseladams/details/pdf/monrise.pdf

I checked the link, thanks. I was hoping to get a landscape by moonlight, but could not do that. I once drove at night time. The plants show up white in the moonlight, quite an experience.

If I remember the story, Adams had a sort of platform built on top of his vehicle. He would climb this ladder and take photographs from atop the roof. I still like your original uncropped shot best but the cropped one is cool too. I'm not as concerned about the telephone wires but it would be interesting to see someone clone them out. All in all... this is a picture that seems to have a story.

That scenery kind of reminds me of our desert Southwest. It's beautiful in it's own way.
