I would never recognize a mocking bird. You seem quite knowledgeable when it comes to birds. Now blue jays we have ... lots and lots and lots of blue jays. Pretty, but noisy and annoying. Your photos are perfect. Crisp and clean with a pleasing depth of field.

Thanks OC I have always enjoyed sitting out & watching /feeding the wildbirds...love helping them out in these cold winter months by giving lotsa handout meals, I make suet for them also. I do have a few field guides, helps me ID birds that I have never seen...plus it tells ya alot about them. The Jays are noisy yes, but i enjoy them, i love how they can mimic other birds, especially a hawk, last winter one even did a crow...it wasn't as loud as a Crow but he did it very well, made me LOL...i can sit out there for hours...

These should be in a book about birds... they're THAT good. Still hiding away in your blind with a thermos of coffee? What lens did you use?

Great shots. The mockingbird is just about my favorite of the avian family. Something about their 'tude amuses me, plus I have had several of them trained to come for food when called. Almost had one trained to wolf whistle. As for shooting thru windows this is one of the reasons I now have several new ones, don't like cold or heat and got tired of trying to shoot thru a haze in a broken seal.

Thanks Sophie This is the first time for me seeing a Mockingbird here...I like them...very curious too! The ones ya had trained to come, what did ya have for them food wise? This big old double paned window is old...i did use a bit of window cleaner on it, but it does have some haze inside it also...certain spots i can't shoot through. I still enjoy sitting outside ...along with my thermos of coffee & my little heater...
