sometimes I wonder if people know where they are going... and in black and white... the black and white was just a quick change to Greyscale with a bump in contrast (with Faststone) Neat how noise is not such a problem when a pic is converted to B&W and come to think of it... when the WB is off or mixed lighting temps throws off an otherwise okay pic changing to B&W can be an easy rescue. What sayest thou?

Depends which you like better. I like the color better. The B&W is colder and a bit more nervous. But some people will want that. Neither's noise bothers me. But then, I grew up in New York. Thanks Charlie, Vic

The color one seems to make me more involved in the picture while the BW makes me feel like a spectator. That is a great shot, Charlie.

Thanks Charlie, Vic "The B&W is colder and a bit more nervous." hmmmm.... that is an interesting comment, a bit more nervous you say? hmmmm.... So far, I've only visited NYC once... can't remember whether it was noisy or not.

I like the BW best Charlie, It has a sort of shutter effect. One row going to the right, the second going to the left, third to the right and fourth back to the left. It's an interesting photo.

I like the color shot best...only for the fact that it's winter which can be very drab at times ....soooooooo... I like color & Yes...I do think the people know exactly where they are headed...it's always such a rush to get shopping done & I believe they think if they don't hurry...whatever it is they wanted will be gone if they don't get there... I know..I had to go get a few grocery items at Wally World & OMG...is all I can say...
"it's always such a rush to get shopping done & I believe they think if they don't hurry...whatever it is they wanted will be gone if they don't get there..." Pam you may be right on this one. I think frantic people can be worry warts...

One of those rare occasions I opt for the color rendition over the black and white. For some reason the blackness in the colored image seems to convey more information than in the black and white. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe just an impression.

Maybe just an impression. now there's an artistic observation,,,, I didn't notice that the colour version had more detail int the blacks until you said it and looking closer I noticed that the colour version has the sky a little lighter black than the lady's coats in front of it.. So we are seeing black on black with the light scatter in the sky making for a very subtle difference.

That about covers the frenzied shopping of the holidays... they do look exactly like that.. and somehow this one with so many peeps passing by each other has that isolationist in the big city feel to it. (maybe subconsciously I'm a small town guy stuck in the big city)
