hey Rob... how come the EXif in the first pic shows a lens length of 340mm? I thought you did your birding work with your 70-200/.2.8
you got some nice deep rich colour tones working there.. the metal tray looks almost 3D against the green background.

That first shot is a winner. Such beautiful birds. Is it some kind of parakeet? James here in Oz we call them Galahs, I believe in the USA they are known as Rose Breasted Cockatoos. When they form a pair the bond is very strong, you will never see them without their partner.

I got you thinking Charlie. I'm using a Nikon 1.7 tele as well to get the extra reach I need. I researched the 2.0 tele but there is significant loss of quality with that tele. The 1.7 works nicely.
